I had just bought a home in a flood zone in NJ that hasnt had a flood in 20 years..The 2nd year I lived there we had a flood where the waters reached over 26 inches in my home..We were forced to leave our homes for 1 week till the waters receeded. I lost most of my things included photo albums of my wife who was killed in an auto accident 10 years prior. It was a very emotional time to see all you worked for ruined by mother nature. The Red Cross was there the day we were able to return to our homes and they brought cleaning supplies..mops..bleech and plenty of hot food..but mostly what they brought was hope..knowing that people had come from all over the United States to help out was the assurence that we all were going to get thru this. After experiencing one tragady of losing my wife and my childerns mother you think you didnt have to go thru another challange again..But life has no rules and if it werent for the efforts and people of the Red Cross of NJ..it would have been much more difficult to get thru this hurdle. Oh and the very next year after we all rebuilt..we were hit with another flood this time over 40 inches of water and we had to do it all over again..and yes..the Red Cross was there like clockwork ..responding to the needs of the community...Thank You for all your help.
